Abba produce a variety of defence equipment. Defence products are often bespoke builds, which include winch installations, versions of our tipping bodies and also Scow End bodies used in reconstruction, road building etc.
Amongst the most important defence equipment we produce are our Land Rover troop carriers. Produced on our special 'Non Torsional Under-frame' and installed on the Land Rover 130, The Abba 8 + 2 Troop Carrier is available in two different versions.
Land Rover 8 + 2 Troop Carrier Base Specification
In it's basic form the 8 + 2 offers a flat floored drop-side body with dimensions 2.5m x 1.9m. It has a removable canopy and removable outward facing seats. In addition to being removable, the seats can be folded whilst still in situ making the 8 + 2 as flexible as possible. The area underneath the seats remains completely clear to maintain obstruction free storage.
An environment is created within the 8 + 2 to enable all of its occupants to see clearly what is going on around them. Access and egress is unencumbered and can be completed very quickly in an emergency.
When installed on a Land Rover 130, the Abba 8 + 2 offers a 1000Kg payload, equating to 100Kg per soldier for man and equipment.
Features include protected rear-lamps, a high quality vinyl canopy with roll up sides and rear and a roof mounted spare wheel.
The 8 + 2 is completely flexible and can be used to transport up to ten troops or alternatively to transport 900Kgs of stores in a completely uncluttered, flat floored load-space.
In common with all Abba products the 8 + 2 troop carrier has been developed using our "Solid Works" drawing package, and is produced using CNC Profiling and Pressing equipment ensuring consistent quality and repeatability.
Land Rover 8 + 2 Troop Carrier Level Two Specification
The Level Two specification includes a modified seating module with lap belts and a tubular protection frame, giving the occupants improved protection in the event of a roll over situation.
